Charles Evans Fitzpatirck, Fitz to all, my stepdad, passed away on 24 December 2013 at Paradise Valley Hospital after a short battle with Pneumonia. He had reached the ripe old age on 100 years, 9 months and 6 days. He previously resided for 25 years in Whispering Palms Park, #61 with my mother and alone for 7 years thereafter and drove till he was 99 when he decided he was too old to do either. He then moved into Phoenix Best Care Home across the street where he was lovingly cared for by Annette and Ken Denton. He was a bachelor before marrying my mother, Imogene whom he adored, in 1971. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa on 18 March 1913 to William T. and Rose C. Fitzpartick and was pure Irish. He served in the south Pacific in the Army Air corps during WWII and afterward for the Navy as an electronics technician in Long Beach until he retired in 1968. His passions were his tomato garden, fishing and poker. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1950 and my mother in 2006. He leaves behind two step children, Priscilla Payne and her offspring of Squim, Washington and William F. Ware, his unmarried step son of Phoenix. Graveside services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd at 10:30 AM, Friday, 3 January, 2014.
