Christine Loralye Schmidt

Christine Loralye Schmidt (Granny) 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Pima AZ. Christine was born November 28, 1941 to Oscar and Ruby Ann Eggers in Charleston, MO. She grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Lapanto High School in 1959. Shortly thereafter her family moved to Globe Arizona and in April of 1960 she met the love of her life, William Lee Schmidt while he was on a 2 week leave from the Navy. One week later on April 22, 1960 they were married. She then moved to Oakland CA to be by her new husband’s side as he completed his service in the Navy. On March 23, 1961 they were blessed with a son William Lee Schmidt Jr. and 4 short months later William was honorably discharged from the navy and they moved back to Globe AZ where they made a new home for their little family and Christine was a stay at home mom. Later she moved to Phoenix and then to Oregon to follow her husband’s career. After William retired in 1995 they made their way back to Phoenix. In 2001 they decided they needed to be closer to their son so they moved to Pima AZ. There Christine and William lived out their retirement and enjoyed camping trips and time with their son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to her. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and took them many places, and as she would put it she was “making memories”. Christine was well known for her delicious food and recipes and has left a lifelong legacy of recipes that her family cherishes. She was also known for her extensive pig collection and loved grooming and working with their horses. On March 19, 2010 she lost her husband and soul mate and was never the same. She had a whole in her life and just wanted to be with him. Through all her illnesses she fought hard and was the best mother and Granny she could be. She is now in the arms of her husband once again. She was preceded in death by her husband William, parents Oscar and Ruby Ann Eggers, In-Laws William M and Silvia Jane Schmidt, Brothers John and David Eggers and a Niece Danna Freeman. She is survived by her beloved Son William L Schmidt Jr., Daughter in-law Yulonda Schmidt, Foster Son Rock (Ruth) Anderson; Brother Daniel (Linda) Eggers; Sister In-Laws Cynthia and Marie Eggers; Grandchildren David Schmidt, Lisa (Steve) Martinez, Kim Valenzuela, Renee Anderson, Roxanne Isabel, Rocky Anderson, Leeland Schmidt, Logan Schmidt; Great Grandchildren Alex, Antinee, Brayden, Gavyn and Kimberlynn (Loralye) Martinez, Devin and Grace Schmidt, Gina Valenzuela, JJ Isabel, Lucas Schmidt and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
