

Mrs. Clendolyn Corbin passed away June 5, 2014 in Beaumont, Texas. She was born February 5, 1923, in Wichita, Kansas, the first child to Ethly Woodard and Morris Steemer. When Clendolyn was 6 years old her father was killed and her mother remarried; S. Shaw Bailey became Clendolyn’s new father. Clendolyn held a B.A. from Wichita State University and an M.A. in art from Arizona State University. Clendolyn spent her career teaching art in Phoenix and Wichita public schools for 24 years and another 9 as an art consultant for Roosevelt School District #66 in Phoenix. Clendolyn served 12 years as a docent at the Phoenix Art Museum rising to the level of Master Docent. Clendolyn produced many pieces of art over the course of her life including colorful oil paintings of portraits, still life, abstracts, landscapes and works that reflected her interpretation of religious and ethnic subjects. Clendolyn was preceded in death by her only sibling, Shaw Bailey Junior. She was also predeceased by her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Corbin just one week after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Their marriage was blessed by the adoption of two children Gary Kevin Corbin and Angela Ann Corbin Bransford (Paris Patrick). Clendolyn was grandmother to six: Shawndrea, Kaelynn & Kendall Corbin; and Melanie, Melissa & Meredith Bransford. Through the years, she was a loyal member of Tanner Chapel A.M.E. Church , The Phoenix Chapter of Links, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated . Visitation will be held on June 13 at 9:00A.M. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Chapel 719 N. 27th Ave Phoenix, AZ . Homegoing celebration begins at 10:00 A.M.
