Cory J. Nochta passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023. He was surrounded by his wife, closest friends, and fire family. He was born on February 12th, 1983 in Phoenix, Arizona. He spent many years of his youth as a skilled athlete in various sports and continued to carry out his love of football while coaching his son’s flag football team.
One of Cory’s greatest passions and career goals became true in 2018 when he became a firefighter for the Goodyear Fire Department. He was proud to serve his community, help others and mentor in the fire academy until he retired in 2022 due to his progression of ALS.
Some of our favorite memories of Cory include his fun-loving and jokester personality, but more importantly his love and devotion to his family. Cory was a very involved father and was always present for children Rypkin and Griffin and step-children Gavin and Anderson. Every morning as they left for school he would repeat to them “Be kind. Be tough. Be awesome”. He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
