25 décembre 1966 – 22 mars 2026
Avis de décès de Craig Andrew Stender
AUX SOINS DE

Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery

A memorial will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, 11:00 – 1:30 PM at Pure Heart Church - 14240 N 43rd Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85306.

Craig Andrew Stender of Phoenix, Arizona passed away suddenly in his sleep on March 22, 2026, at the age of 59.

Craig was born on Christmas Day, 1966 in Los Altos, California to Robert and Genevieve Stender. He was a 1985 graduate of Brophy College Preparatory School in Phoenix, Arizona and went on to attend the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona where he received his BSBA in MIS in 1989. During his time at the University of Arizona, (BEAR DOWN!), Craig became a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity his freshman year and quickly formed friendships with his brothers that he would enjoy until his last day on earth. He was a leader in high level clubs and activities at UofA including being a member of the Bobcats Senior Honorary, a member of the Chain Gang, and was elected UofA Student Body President his senior year. Craig went on to receive his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2003 from Arizona State University.

Craig spent his professional life in the information technology industry, primarily focusing on helping state governments of Arizona, Nebraska, Virginia, and others working to automate their DMV operations for faster, more efficient service to millions of their customers. He identified the inefficiencies at DMVs Craig was one of the most loving, kind, caring, thoughtful people you could ever hope to meet. He would be there for you when you didn’t even know you needed him to be. He had a deep love and passion for his family. His extraordinarily intelligent, sweet daughters were his pride and joy. Ever the optimist, at the start of every football season, he felt strongly that his beloved Minnesota Vikings would win the Super Bowl. Craig fashioned himself as a cook and was always trying new delicious recipes and delighted in grilling for friends and family when they came over. He enjoyed cheering on the Arizona Wildcats and traveled all over the country with his college friends doing so. Heavily influenced by his three older brothers, he had a great appreciation for music in legendary bands like Queen, The Police and The Beatles as well as smaller groups such as Big Head Todd and the Monsters. He was loved by all who had the pleasure of calling him friend, brother, family. He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne Rivera Stender; daughters Bonnie and Isabela Stender, and grandson Kieran Thain. Craig is also survived by his mother, Genevieve Clingan; brothers, Randy and Kevin, and many nieces, nephews and extended

family. Craig’s father also died suddenly of a heart attack at aged 55 in 1981 when Craig was just 14. The pain of losing such a remarkable man was something he carried with him his entire life.

Craig’s smile and laughter were infectious and loud but always genuine. Though Craig has departed this earthly realm, his legacy endures – a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, caring heart, and friendship. May Craig’s spirit soar on wings of eternal peace and he forever be cherished in the embrace of our memories.

In lieu of flowers the family would happily accept any anecdotes or photos you wish to share about Craig.
