Damion Anajee Powell was born on May 21, 1999 in Marietta, Georgia to the lovely Montoya Ozier- Kyles and Craig Powell. Damion attended Marietta High School but later relocated to Rifle, Colorado with his family. He seamlessly adjusted to his new environment and was a very active student at Rifle High School, where he became a member of the school's basketball team. At this time, Damion also began to discover his love for music. Damion graduated from Rifle High School in 2017 and later went on to attend The Refrigeration School, Inc. (RSI) in Phoenix. In 2018, he obtained his certification and became a Certified HVAC Technician. Damion was proud of his accomplishment, but he had his eyes set on higher aspirations.
In 2019, he relocated to Phoenix, AZ with his family and began to excel in his musical career as he became a songwriter and recording artist, where he came known as "Yungg Dame" and later to "Lil dz". He published several songs on SoundCloud, iTunes and many other media platforms. Damion was excited when he sold his first song for $400. This was the motivation that he needed to keep striving his dreams. His most successful single was "Roswell Baby (Lil Bibby remix) with over 187,000 play on SoundCloud.
Damion's favorite television show was 'Wildin' Out'!! He loved laughing and having fun with his friends and family. Damion was wise beyond his years, he would wake up in the morning and listen to music and go into very deep thoughts about his life. He also loved having thought-provoking and motivational conversations with his mom and his big sister, Shajuana and Dominque. Damion was a caring and compassionate young man who always made it a priority to check on his loved ones to ensure they were always taken care of. He had a very unique personality, he took pride in being his own man and marching to the beat of his own drum. Damion loved traveling and taking long road trips. He enjoyed venturing out to Colorado, but his absolute favorite city was Los Angeles. He had his sights set on traveling across the globe.
Damion's greatest joy and delight was being a great son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend. His easy- going spirit was infectious and his huge smile lit up the room. Damion Anajee Powell departed this life unexpectedly on May 2, 2020.
Damion leaves to cherish his memory his parents Montoya (Shondale) Kyles; Craig (Meka) Powell. His sibilings: Shajuana, Dominique, William, Sharryah, Shondale Jr., Kody and Hassan (KJ & Arielle). His grandparents: Elsie and Ralph Powell; Jeanette Walker and Michael Ozier. One uncle: Michael Ozier and one aunt: Tracye Powell. One loving niece: Malia Myers and a special cousin: Amir Berry.
