David Solano Campos, Sr., entered into life December 29, 1941, in Charlotte, Texas, was the second of nine children to Victor Campos and Nicolasa Solano. The son of a migrant farm worker, David didn’t have much of a chance to stay in one place during his childhood. When he was about twelve years old, his family came to casa grande, he was able to attend school while continuing to help his family in their work.
David was a quiet man — humble, kind, and known for his strong work ethic. At a young age, he followed in his parents’ footsteps and built a lifelong career in agriculture. Through hard work and dedication, he became a foreman and spent his life working in the fields of Pima and Maricopa County.
Though he worked tirelessly, David always made time for his family. He planned yearly vacations filled with joy and laughter — trips to Disneyland, the Grand Canyon, and visits to New Mexico to reconnect with loved ones and the memories of days past. He loved sports, especially basketball and football, cheering for the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Cardinals — though he secretly rooted for the Dallas Cowboys, a fact his wife playfully refused to allow.
Thanksgiving was David’s favorite holiday. He took pride in helping his wife prepare the traditional meal — the turkey, dressing, and all the fixings — always saving the turkey leg for himself. The family also cherished their special tradition of making Capirotada (which is English is a type of bread pudding), a dish that brought everyone together and filled the home with warmth and love.
David leaves behind the love of his life, Gloria, and his children: Linda and her husband Joe, David and his wife Carmen, and Edward (“Eddie”). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kristen, Cassandra, Briana, and Edward; and his great-grandchildren, Devie, Nikolai, and Valentino. He will be lovingly remembered by many cousins and close friends, including Oscar Lopez and Jose Manuel Gonzalez, who were like family to him.
David was greeted in heaven by his siblings, Gregory, Mario, Santos, and Celia, and his granddaughter, L’Oreal.
David passed away at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, with his wife by his side, on October 24, 2025. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his quiet strength, and the love and warmth he shared with all who knew him.
