Delbert "Del" Russell Jeffers

72, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on November 28th, 2010. Del was the eldest child of Marion and Joyce (von Kaenel) Jeffers of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Del graduated from Ft. Collins High School in 1956 and from Colorado State University in 1960 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a commissioned officer in the US Army. He retired after working for IBM after 31 years and became an adjunct professor at South Mountain Community College where he taught for the last five years. Del enjoyed spending time with his family, hiking, biking and being in the Colorado mountains. Del is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann (James) Jeffers, and their four children; Jennifer Davis of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Rusty Jeffers and Scott Jeffers of Phoenix, Arizona, and Andrea Wellington of Tucson, Arizona, along with his mother, Joyce Jeffers, and two sisters; Glenda Anderson and Janet Tucay, all of Ft. Collins, Colorado. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, December 1st from 6-9 PM with a rosary beginning at 7PM at the Carr-Tenney mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd in Tempe. A funeral mass and reception to be held Thursday, December 2, at 10AM, at St. Timothy’s Church, 1730 W. Guadalupe in Mesa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paz de Cristo, 424 W. Broadway Rd in Mesa, Arizona. Arrangements are being held under the direction of Carr Tenney Mortuary in Tempe.
