Our beloved father, Douglas L. Dong Sr. passed away on December 12, 2013. Douglas was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed not only by his family but also by the Phoenix community. He was a patriotic hero who served as part of the Flying Tigers of World War II; however, he was best known for his love of family, his compassion and his generosity. He was born in Canton, China but came to the U.S. at a young age and started his family and his legacy here in Phoenix. He owned Douglas Market on Central Ave., an American Dreamer who passed on his life lessons along with his unforgettable Turkey recipe for generations to come. Words can not express how much we will miss our loving patriarch and his constant smile. He was predeceased by his daughter Rose P. Dong, and his son, David Dong. He is survived by his devoted wife Evie K. Dong, his sisters and brothers, Buck (Mabel) Dong, Calvin (Clarissa) Dong, his children, Edward (Lannie) Dong, Heather Dong, Douglas L. (Mei) Dong Jr., daughter-in law Xiu and many adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will celebrate his life on Saturday, December 21, 2013 with a visitation at 10:00am and funeral service at 11:00am held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave in Phoenix.
