

Eddy King Yin Mui, 81, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones at his home residence. He was born to Bing Yee Mui and Choi Mui Leung on May 13, 1943 in Toisan, China. He endured a lot of hardship and ailments as a child. At the age of 8, his father passed away. When he was 13 years old, he migrated to Hong Kong with his mother to find doctors to help him with his health issues and also to support the rest of the family in China.
In January 1974, Eddy immigrated to the United States through the petitioning of his sister, Chuen Kam Dong. He worked hard as a chef to create tasteful and exquisite Chinese cuisines.
In 1976, Eddy met his wife Susan and they married in her hometown in Hong Kong. They settled in San Francisco, California. In December 1983, they moved to Arizona to raise their 3 children. Through the years, Eddy worked hard as a chef in the Chinese restaurant business to support his family. He loved to cook for family and friends. In his free time, he enjoyed his time nourishing his outdoor garden.
At the age of 62, he retired from the restaurant industry. During his retirement years, he was active in his children and grandchildren’s lives. He took on the full time role of caretaker/babysitter to his grandchildren and taught them many life skills. He became an expert at diaper changing, bottle feeding and meal time prep.
During the last 1 ½ years of his life, his wife did everything she could to take care of him 24/7. She went above and beyond a wife’s duty to care for him. Eddy was enrolled in Hospice Care through Traditions Health in January 2023 from his daughter’s home. He was very loved by his wife and children. He was a fighter to the end. His wife and family was there up until his final breath. Eddy lived a full life surrounded by family and filled with love.
Eddy is survived by his wife of 48 years Susan and their 3 children and 7 grandchildren; Chester Mui (Kim), Christine Yap (Clement) and Caroline Wulff (David); grandchildren Chloe Mui, Christopher Yap, Caden Yap, Carter Yap, Caitlyn Yap, Cianna Yap and Corrine Sanders. He is also survived by his younger sister Chuen Kam and 2 brothers, King Leung Mui (Choi Kiu), and Steve Mui (Cindy) and many nephews and nieces.
