Edith Virginia Power, 90, of Sun City passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022.
Born in Aspen, Colorado to Arden and Gertrude Neller Hoaglund in 1932, she moved with her parents and siblings to the ranch in Rulison, Colorado in 1941. She grew into a hard-working ranch girl that knew how to ride, herd, and farm. She graduated from Rifle High School in 1950 and soon thereafter married Ralph Power. They started their life together in Grand Valley, Colorado. Then moved to Dutch John, Utah in 1966 and to Phoenix in 1976.
In Phoenix she worked several jobs, ultimately finding her way to The American Graduate School of International Management, aka Thunderbird, in 1985 and working there until 1997 as an Administrative Assistant for Admissions. She loved working with students from all over the globe who came to the campus in Glendale. She retired from this job in 1997 and became active in a variety of Senior events
She attended Christ’s Community Church starting in 1976 and stayed active in her church community until her passing. She now joins her husband of 37 years in Heaven.
Their four children, Trudi, Bradley, Douglas and Lonnie were honored to call her Mom. Edith was well known and loved for her amazing cookies which she was especially glad to share with any who would join her in chatting over a cup of coffee.
She was quite involved in the lives of her grandchildren as well. Edith was especially loved by her nieces and nephews, and it was always a joy to her whenever they could be together.
After Ralph’s passing and, in her retirement, Edith found a special friendship and companionship with Eino Heikkila of Sun City. For several years, they enjoyed traveling, dining out, and occasionally dancing.
Edith spent her final year at Thunderbird Senior Living in Glendale. She always remarked that the staff was so kind and caring.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at Christ’s Community Church in Glendale on September 3, at 10am. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Power, parents Arden and Gertrude (Neller) Hoaglund, her sister Ardis Green and her brothers Darrell and Edward Hoaglund.
