Our beloved, wife, mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Elsy Maria Dorantes, age 85 was granted her angel wings on February 4, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 25, 1937 in Valladolid, Yucatan, Mexico to her parents, Tomas & Engracia Ruiz, she was one of 8 children. Elsy grew up in Valladolid, Yucatan, and as a young adult moved to work in a Mahogany Wood Mill in Zoh-Laguna, Campeche, Mexico, where she met her husband, Jorge Dorantes, they were united in marriage in 1961. The couple recently celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary January 14th. Elsy, immigrated to the United States in 1971, where she lived most of her life in Los Angeles, California before retiring to Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by her 5 siblings, Luis, Dora, Wilma, Miguel and Fernando. She had 7 children, Elsy Pecaro-Delgado, Angelica Mahboob, Martha Mariscal, George, Alfred, Tom and David Dorantes. She had 16 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Elsy was the matriarch to our large Yucatan family creating many unforgettable memories. She provided wisdom, encouragement and a true unconditional love of her children and their families. She always brought laughter and happiness to anyone she met anywhere. She loved traveling the world, casinos, dancing and spending time with the family. Elsy will be missed but will be reunited with her parents, siblings and her grandson Michael. We love you Mom, Rest in Peace our Guardian Angel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17th at 10:00 AM Rosary, 11:00 AM Mass at Mission San Fernando Rey de España, 15151 San Fernando Mission Blvd, Mission Hills, California followed by a walking procession at Noon to her final resting place in San Fernando Catholic Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held at 1:30 pm at 17650 Stagg St. Northridge, CA.
