Ernie is gone but not forgotten,areal good friend We will miss him.

Grandpa loved our family gatherings and I’ll always remember him sitting (sometimes falling asleep!) in the living room chair while hanging out with the family. He even sometimes brought us little “treasures” that were so fun to get as a kid! Rest in peace, grandpa! 

I have many memories of Ernie starting from my childhood .  Our families were very close and we shared many occasions together. There was always a lot of eating , wine drinking and good conversation happening when we got together. What I remember most about Ernie is his quest for finding treasure and he and my father spent a lot of time and energy pursuing that together.  They both had a real passion for it.  I'm grateful for the memories I have of Ernie and will always remember him.  

Uncle Ernie is a big symbol of my childhood and family. He was always at my grandma and grandpas house hanging out in the comfy chair just watching us play. We would have big meals that my grandma cooked and just have a nice relaxing time. He always gave big warm hugs and kisses. I always believed he knew where to find the treasure. Rest In Peace uncle Ernie.

My father-n-law Ernie was like my real Dad. I met him in the 70's and I spent more time with him than my real father in Greece.
He is the reason I moved to Arizona. He talked about prospecting and treasure hunting and the gold.
I used to tell him pops the gold is long gone and he would say no its still here, we have to go find it.
Dad was always good to me despite a few disagreements we had.
I used to tease him about the treasure and gold and he would get upset but after we had a good meal with a few glasses of paisano wine he would forget until the next disagreement. 
I will miss my father-n-law as we had some great times and memories.

He was always on the go looking for that treasure or following his dream. He constantly talked about it whether looking in the superstition mountains, going to mexico, peru and even Italy.
I have accumulated many maps.
When Debbie or I would call him for a family dinner, he was first to arrive with his dog palo and bring grandma charlotte's recipe for icebox cheesecake which to our surprise was very good.
The last seven years is when I truly got to know him as he lived with us in the trailer and then the nursing home. We would visit as often as we could and when he would see us his face lighten up and would say hey when are we going to the mountains. So the dream dies last.
Dad had a big heart and I hope he is at peace and has found that treasure within.

I will remember grandpa as a man who never missed a family gathering. Anytime my mom or anyone was cooking a big meal with family, he was there. Rest In Peace grandpa.

We will  miss Ernie's many stories on his quest to find the Lost Dutch Mine and other precious metals in Arizona.

He was a true adventurer and wore many different hats in various careers from owner of a asphalt paving service, policeman, mailman, used car dealer, TV repair service, just to name a few.
