I love you Dad and Grandpa forever and ever...

Gene is My Father-in-Law was and is an amazing person. The love he has for My Mother-in-Law Mary as well as his family is the kind of love and passion all little girls and boys dream of atleast I have always dreamed of and thanks to both of them for falling in love and blessing the world with their gift of children. I am so grateful to both Gene and Mary for blessing me with the true love of my life Douglas Burks Sr. He is my heart, my bestfriend, my husband, the father of my children. The true meaning of love has strayed in so many ways with each generation. We all see so many people end up with broken families, and divorce for reasons they think are huge but, are so very small. Gene and Mary have stuck together hand and hand, heart to heart, through their teenage years, a young marriage, Gene going off to the Navy, raising three children, through WAR after WAR, having to leave the ones he cared about most his family to risk his life for all of us, having to keep the hope and faith while she waits for him to come home and walk in that door safe and sound as their children rush to his open arms screaming Daddy your home. Being able to achieve such times is the true meaning of true love. I look out my back door and the most amazing thing about living next door to our parents is being able to see them everyday, and the little pathway our children have made with their little feet that leads from our home to Grandma and Grandpa's home. I will miss the times he made a new rocket and the kids would get so excited to see him set it off and then watch them run around like crazy trying to find the parachute that usually flies off in every other direction than the one you think it did. Seeing the excitement in my husbands and our sons face when a gunshow is coming to town the first thing they both say is, "we have to tell Grandpa" and off they would go out the door and on the little pathway to Grandpas. I would say to them, "hey I will go with you  guys' and the priceless but preshus  look on my sons face when he would turn around, and say to me "Mom, its a guy thing." then blow me a kiss and run off to Grandpas with his Dad. Although, we have lost one of the most kindest, devoted, loving, dedicated, determined and strongest person we know, we have also, gained so many memories, knowledge, understanding and love the things you can not buy, take or fake and those are the best gifts of all ones that last a lifetime. Thank you Dad, we love you and miss you so very much.

Eugene was my beloved cousin/brother and I loved him very much. I will forever remember the last time I saw him. He had a big smile on his face, was waving and saying "Goodby, I love you Sissy!"  Bebe, may you gain strength in the knowledge that he loved you with all his heart; He told me so the last time I visited him. May his children and grandchildren remember him with the same love he felt for them. He is at peace now.

I am so sorry for the loss of Eugene.  I regret that I live so far away and have not seen any of you for a number of years.  However, I know how much you will miss him but always try to remember the wonderful memories made with the family.  I remember when he was just out of the Navy and I was visiting Mother in Phoenix with Bob & Debbie.  We wanted to go to Disneyland in Los Angeles but didn't have the nerve to drive so Gene drove us and we all had a wonderful time.  Eugene was a good person and I always loved him.  Aunt Joy
