A person like Greg is not easily summed up. They literally broke the mold after they made him. He was such a unique and kind and loving soul with a sense of humor that made it impossible to be anything but happy in his presence. He had a love of life and a personality that was infectious. Everyone he came into contact with was the better for it. He had an incredibly kind heart and constantly put others needs ahead of his own. He brought light and joy into every situation, whether it was work, home, or just brightening the day of perfect strangers in public with his antics.
Greg had a profound effect on the lives of so many. This is especially true when speaking of his family members. However, his reach went so much farther than that. Some of his influence is unfortunately only now being realized. On top of his unmatchable and incredible sense of humor, he was also very smart. He spent years working during the day and attending school at night in order to achieve his Master's degree. He was constantly networking and striving to better himself and achieve his goals and realize his dreams. His motivation and drive were evident to everyone around him. He constantly encouraged others to do the same; to aim high and achieve their goal. He was a mentor and inspiration to many.
Greg had so many passions in life. The list could be endless. He was a devout patriot. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps. This was a time of his life he was incredibly proud of. He adored his family, especially his grandkids and his fur kids. He loved decorating for the holidays. Greg and his wife Janet would create large holiday displays to brighten people’s lives and help bring the joy of the season to anyone passing through. This is only a short list of the things he loved; however, no list of his loves would be complete without mentioning his unconditional and boundless love of Coca-Cola and sports.
In early 1996 Greg met his soulmate, Janet. They were married on July 19, 1997 and enjoyed 22 wonderful years together. Everyone who knew Greg knew how much he loved Janet. She was his world. He adored her and took great joy in caring for her, and just spending every moment he could with her. They built a family together. He immediately accepted and loved Janet’s son Justin as his own. A little later in life Janet and Greg adopted another son into their family, Joe. Again, Greg immediately treated him as his own. From their sons’, Greg and Janet were blessed with daughter in laws’, grand kids, and even great grand kids. As his family grew, so did his love and joy. He was the epitome of a family man. He was an amazing son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, and even great grandpa. He will be missed so very, very much, by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His passing left a hole in this world that nothing can fill. The world is definitely dimmer now. However, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of so many.
A celebration of life will be held at the A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Bethany Chapel. This will be held on September 14th of 2019 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow to share memories and continue to celebrate this amazing man at the United Methodist Church 7102 N. 58th Drive in Glendale, Arizona 85301.
