Hazel J. Simmons, 88, passed away June 27, 2010. Hazel was born October 4, 1921, in Hector, Arkansas, and grew up in Weleeka, Oklahoma. A World War II Veteran, she served in the Women’s Army Corps from 1943 to 1946. She moved to Phoenix upon her release from the Army and lived there until her passing. In 1950 Hazel went to work for Phoenix Title & Trust, which later became Transamerica. She retired as a trust administrator with Transamerica in 1984. She was a devoted member of the North Phoenix Baptist Church. Hazel is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jeff; son Mike and daughter-in-law Loraina. Grandchildren: Michael (Laura), Eric, Jared (Heejun), and Raina Bennett (Ben); nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel was a kind, gracious lady and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. with Funeral Services at 10:00 A.M. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009.
