Helen Woo Tang

She was raised in Winslow, AZ, where she would help run the family grocery store, W. Bow Grocery as a child. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1950 as valedictorian of her class and was a member of the Pep Squad, National Honor Society and was class president. She received the Baird Scholarship and then enrolled at University of Arizona, where she got a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1954.

After graduating, she began working at a law office as legal secretary, putting her business degree to work. Although she worked for a few years, she decided to devote her life into raising and caring for her family. During this time, she became an active member of the First Chinese Baptist Church, where she found joy in teaching children in the nursery. After her own children had grown, she and her husband then spent most of their time attending to the needs of their parents. During that period of time, she also became a grandmother and equally devoted her busy time and energy to provide them with endless love and affection. Recent years, she became a great-grandmother. Even though she was unable to help physically care for them, she still loved being able to watch and interact with them.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Howard and brothers, Curry Woo and David Woo, she is survived by her three sons, Roger, Tracy (Linda) and Neal (Camy); three grandchildren, Jasmine (Vincent) Chen, Tyler, and Morganne; two great grandchildren, Mason and Kaylee Chen; sister Ruby Dea and brother Wilson (Helen) Woo; sister-in-laws, Tsui Fong Woo and Sally Woo;

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Chinese Baptist Church (4910 E. Earl Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85018), Northwest Chinese Baptist Church (4243 W. Greenway Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85053).

A visitation for Helen will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009. A committal service will occur Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
