I am so sorry for offering my condolences so late as I just found out of Tia Tencha's passing, my Condolences to all of her Family..She was my Great Aunt, my Grandmother's sister...RIP Tia

As children, visiting tio & Tia, I  remember Tia Tencha always starch and ironing blue, long sleeved police uniform shirts, not just one but many. She was a non- complicated person, taking life as it was handed to her & did it well. What a  model for her family & all of us to look up to. When we would join Tio & Tia Tencha at the cabin, she would fix us deviled ham & hardboiled egg sandwiches...so good out in the woods, smelling the pine trees! She made us feel welcome even though she was a person of few words. She left many good memories. My mom and I were the gamblers in the family. It started years ago when my dad loaded up my mom, aunt molly, bob and me into his blue family van and off we went to gamble in a small town called Laughlin. We were hooked!  From there we graduated to bingo at the American legion post 41 where aunt licha and carmen would sometimes meet up  with us.  And of course we can't forget bingo at the FOP and the bingo bus we would take to Laughlin. My dad would stand behind mom ready to cash in any winnings!  So that is why tomorrow morning I will place 3 shinning quarters and a brand new bingo dauber  in her casket-there are no losers in heaven so I hear. I will miss you-kisses and hugs to dad and Bob.     Anna

On behalf of the Galindos, our deepest sympathy to all our cousins on the loss of your beloved Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. From my times as a little kid when we would get on her nerves and she'd just say "go outside and play---scram" to our times at the cabin when she was always up for some conversation (smoke 'em if you got 'em!), she always made us feel at home. Always searching for that honey hole fishing spot with Tio Dave. Nothing but good memories with Tia Tencha. She will be missed and we'll never forget her.

No words can describe the love I have for you and the sadness I feel now that your gone. There are so many wonderful memories but a few that I i will cherish forever are how when we were little and you would bathe us in your kitchen sink and to continue that with our children, i'm pretty sure we all have a picture getting a bath in grandmas sink. When you would drive us by the train tracks and we would sing "little red cabosse". ALL of our camping and cabin adventures like when we didn't have enough snow boots for all of us, you and grandpa would wrap our legs and feet in garbage bags and electrical tape so we could all go sledding, and your hobby of collecting cans when ever we stopped anywhere,  nobody could smash a can like grandma. I will miss the sound of your slippers and your trademark whistle but i will ecspecially miss the unconditional love you had for us and the way you made us feel like we were each your favorite person in the whole world! I am so grateful that Jacob, Caitlin and Michael were able to know and love you like I was, we were truely blessed!

1922 – 2013 Hortensia passed away at age 91 in Phoenix on August 6, 2013. Hortensia, also known as Tencha, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, and wife to David Salcido Perez lived a full jubilant life with her huge supportive loving vivacious family.  She was such a lucky lady in that respect!  Our family adored her, respected her, and loved her so much.  Mom was also lucky at the casinos and FOP bingo nights.  She had her favorite spots and slots and had this winning karma about her that gave her a lot of cha-ching moments!  Mom was an avid sports fan, with baseball and women's softball being her favorites.  In her younger years she played softball - a bit of a spitfire we were told. When Mom met Dad her whole life changed with marriage, new experiences, and outdoor adventures.  She learned how to drive and not in just any car, a crank type model, where the Colorado hills and the crank helped to build up some muscle and I'm sure a few choice words. Mom was introduced to the adventurous world of fishing, camping and hunting with Dad seeing beautiful places and enjoying nature.  Mom grew to love the outdoors, especially fishing.  She could sit all day at the lake enjoying it even when the weather was lousy and fish were snubbing her.  Mom and Dad bought a family cabin in Forrest Lakes 30+ years ago – best investment ever.  It's cozy, charming, filled with love and wonderful memories, and more to be made with the kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  

Hortensia is survived by her four children Hortensia Portillo, Anna Crow, Cecilia Perez-Arden, and her favorite son William Perez, and their spouses Armando Portillo, Mike Arden, and Lynn Perez.  Next the grandchildren (& significant others): Armando (& Tammy) Portillo Jr, Maria (& Rollie) Wightman, Luci (& Rick) Redmond, Rebecca (& Michael) Sullivan, Alicia (& Jayson) Joyce, Monica (& Josh) Trujillo, Patricia (& Eugene) Ortiz, Genevieve (& Herman) Gonzalez, William (& Stephanie) Perez Jr, Diana (& Adam) Perez-Berkebile. And then the great grandchildren: 33 +1 due in Sept.  Mom/Grandma loved her grandchildren/great grandchildren.  Their hugs always brightened her day.

Mom had a stoic demeanor but yet was such a softy making sure we were always taken care of.  Mom we salute you … your salutes to us will be missed!

We love you Mom/Grandma and will miss you!
