

Jacob “Tuffy” J. Sievers, 85, a resident of Phoenix over 30 years, passed away, surrounded by his family on Friday, March 4, 2016, after extended illnesses. He was born December 31, 1930, son of the late Jacob and Amanda (Rohde) Sievers in Yutan, Nebraska. He married Bernice Sievers in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1962.
Jacob proudly served active duty in the United States Army from January 1949 through August 1969 being honorably discharged in 1969. He was a Korea and Vietnam veteran.
Jacob is preceded in death by his loving wife Bernice; sisters Pauline Ekman, Maxine Brazil and Jane Sievers; brothers Otto, Herb, Max and Mike Sievers; survived by his children, Jacob (Debbie) Sievers, Jr., Gwen (Tony) Paluch, Ben (Jean) Hassler, Roy (Jamie) Sievers, Roland Sievers; grandchildren Candice and Becky Sievers, Christopher Hassler DeFalco, Nicole (Bret) Fox, Danielle Hassler, Kristin and Erika Sievers, Laura Paluch; great-grandchild Dean Fox. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Hanke of Wahoo, NE and Meg Bonow in Ithaca, NE along with many nieces and nephews. Jacob loved baseball and was an avid Diamondback fan. He was a very loving and caring man.
Services for Jacob and Bernice will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. in Phoenix, on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 12:30PM. They will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
