He graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1964 and joined the Naval Reserve. He was stationed on Midway Island and Danang, Vietnam. After his military service, he returned to Phoenix. After a brief time looking for a job, Jim Moved to California to work for PT& P. After a year and a half in San Francisco, Jim missed his family and friends in Phoenix and transferred to Mountain Bell In Phoenix. There he met Roxy Brooks and they were married April 27th, 1971. On October 10th, 1974, their son Cale Lee Wood was born. While working for Mountain Bell, Jim attended Phoenix College at night and received an Associate In Arts Degree May 1977. He was an active member of the Moonlight Modelers Club and the Arizona Outlaws Hotwheels Club. Jim retired after 32 years with the Mountain Bell in March 2000. While retired, he had a small business selling die cast toys and enjoyed playing by his Bingo with his wife. He is preceded in death by his parents Lois J. and Joseph T Craig and by his brother Patrick Craig.
He is survived by his beloved wife Roxy; son Cale Lee, daughter-in-law Chrissy, four grandchildren, Siera, Tanner, Kaia, Ava and great granddaughter Oakley as well as his sister Terry and brothers Lyle and Joey. Also by his daily constant companions Charlie, Tigger, Smokey and Mooch.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 6-8pm at Phoenix Memorial Park Mortuary 200 W Beardsley Rd in Phoenix. A service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday Nov. 15 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix.
