

Age 89, of Phoenix, passed away on August 22, 2017. Janet was the second of four children of the late Henry and Barbara Schimelfenig. She was born on November 22, 1927, in Goodrich, ND.
Janet attended a one room school house near Goodrich, then went on to the Cottonwood School, and later, Fessenden High School in Fessenden, ND.
Janet married Harold Pepple on June 26, 1949 at First Lutheran Church in Fessenden. They eventually settled on a farm near Heaton, ND. They raised three boys, Neil, Curtis, and Gordon.
Harold and Janet moved their family to Phoenix, AZ in 1963. During the years that followed Janet was employed in several different positions, including a long held position as head of Maintenance for John F. Long Properties in Maryvale (west Phoenix). She retired in 1986 to help care for her 2 grandchildren.
While living near Fessenden, ND, Janet was an active member of the First Lutheran Church. Later, she was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Phoenix, AZ.
Janet was first and foremost a homemaker. She loved caring for her family; decorating and keeping her home, and was gifted in culinary arts and entertaining. Janet also enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and sewing, creating many items to be given as gifts to many people.
Janet is survived by her sons, Neil, of Vancouver, Washington and Gordon (Lois) of Phoenix; grandson Matthew (Jennifer) Pepple, granddaughter Janell (Joel McCarthy), four great grandchildren: Nicodemus Grady, Caleb Luke, Zion Levi, and Eleanor Ann; all of Phoenix; and her sister Violet (Eugene) Roller, of New York Mills, MN, and many nieces and nephews. Surviving also is her precious little dog and constant companion, Lassie. Janet was preceded in death by two brothers, Gustav and Joseph; and more recently by her husband Harold, in February, 2011; and her son Curtis, in February, 2016. The Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Funeraria del Angel Greer-Wilson Chapel, 5921 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, September 2 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 7205 N, 51st Ave, Glendale. Committal services will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W.
