Jasmyne Grayson was born in Phoenix, Arizona on September 16, 1991, to Sonja Evanston. She is the fourth child of ten children to Sonja. Jasmyne accepted Christ at the young age of 12 and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona where she attended as a youth.
In September 1999, Jasmyne and her brother Jordan were fostered by Reverend Roy Glasper and his wife Nancy. On the weekends brothers Justin and Jonathan would come to visit. Having fostered many children in the past, the Glasper’s felt Jasmyne and her siblings were a special blessing to them and prayed the Lord would keep them together as a family. After a year, the siblings would talk amongst themselves and decided they wanted to remain living together with the Glaspers’. They were all officially adopted on September 17, 2001.
Jasmyne loved attending church. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday school to the younger children. During big events at church, Jasmyne served in many capacities including usher, server and in the nursey. In 2005, the Glasper’s moved back to Sacramento, California and then to Redding, California where Pastor Glasper accepted a position at 2nd Baptist Church. There she attended Independence High School.
Jasmyne was blessed with her first child Elijah on August 22, 2009. Three years later, her daughter, Itoviah would enrich her life further on August 12, 2012. Jasmyne loved her children with all her heart and strength. They gave her the motivation to keep up the “good fight.”
Jasmyne is survived by her children Elijah and Itoviah, Cory (Itoviah's dad), her biological mother, Sonja; her biological grandparents, Leroy & Eunice Grayson (deceased), adoptive parents, Rev. Roy and Nancy Glasper; biological aunt Carla Grayson, biological uncle’s, Rodney & Michael; brothers, Jason (deceased) Justin, Jonathan, Jordan & Joshua; sisters, Sasha, Sierra, Wakita (adoptive), Teena (adoptive), & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Remember Me
To the living, I am gone,
To the sad, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart,
in your thoughts, and in your memories.
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.
