Jeanette Washington

Jeanette Brookshire Washington, 70, transitioned into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at her home. She was preceded in death by her BELOVED husband of 27 years, Louis Vinson Washington, Jr., her beloved mother, Cora Mae Roberts Brookshire, her father, Warren Brookshire, her daughter, Angel Crosby and son Antony “Tony” Crosby.

She was born in Meridian, Mississippi, and as a child Jeanette accepted Christ as her savior at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bailey, Mississippi. In 2016 she joined New Creation Christian Church in Laveen, Arizona where she served faithfully until her husband’s health failed.

Jeanette attended Middleton Attendance Center and Meridian High School. She finished her educational pursuits in Rockwall, Texas where she earned her Associates in Arts Degree in Business at Eastfield Community College. Jeanette was a retiree of Eastfield Community College.

Jeanette was a talented and fun-loving woman who enjoyed spending time with family, traveling the world and entertaining her friends. She will be remembered for her loving spirit and one who never met a stranger. She always wanted to cook and literally feed you. She had a very contagious laugh and a smile that would melt your heart… She would give you the blouse off her back if you needed one.

Jeanette leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Darren (Sharon) Brookshire of Santa Rosa, California; two grandsons, Darren(Micaela) Brookshire, Jr. of Santa Rosa, California and Jordon Brookshire of San Diego, California; one great granddaughter, Bonnie Brookshire of Santa Rosa, California; eight siblings: Warren (Ann) Brookshire of New Market, Alabama, Minnie (Mel) Blaylock of Indianapolis, Indiana, Pennie Brookshire of Meridian, Mississippi, Harry (Sheila) Brookshire of Columbia, Maryland, Beatrice (Van) Edmundson of Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Ceatrice (Richard) Kelly of Meridian, Mississippi, Vernon (Farrie) Bailey of Chandler, Arizona, Mary (James) Logan of New Market, Alabama, and Lamar (Kim) Brookshire of Baltimore, Maryland, 15 nieces and nephews: Gregory (Nia) Nelson, Charlotte (Thomas) Morris, Anthony Douglas, Tracie Nelson, Stephanie Brookshire, Michael (Marchell) Douglas, Reuben Johnson, Amber Johnson, Shannel Perkins, Shant’e Brookshire, Shantel Brookshire, Brittanye’ Kelly, Justin Kelly, Vincent Bailey, Jasmine Bailey and a host of cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Dignity Memorial located at 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85027. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Dignity Memorial.
