Jerry was born to James Ruel and Ora Darby Wilson in Sweetwater, Texas on December 5, 1927. He grew up in Glendale, Arizona with his twin brother, Gene, as the third youngest of eleven children. He attended Washington and Glendale Elementary schools and graduated from Glendale High School in 1946. He is a 1952 graduate of Arizona State University and member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He taught several years as a classroom teacher in Florence, Arizona and worked at several other schools as their librarian. He greatly enjoyed helping young children discover and enjoy books. His nieces and nephews were often the happy recipients of books he chose just for them. He retired as a popular librarian at the Glendale Sine Elementary School. Jerry loved to travel the world with friends and family. He was always happy to join in on any trip, domestic or abroad. The game of tennis was his chosen sport. He loved playing doubles which he did until he was in his eighties. When he was younger, Jerry was quite the card player and played in various bridge groups. Any social activity attracted his attention; concerts, dinner groups, happy hour, or a Diamondbacks game.
He was grateful to have celebrated his very well attended 90th Birthday Luau at the Beatitudes Campus and his recent 93rd birthday barrage of mailed cards and phone calls.
Jerry is survived by his brother Norman Wilson and preceded in death by siblings Gene, Bill, Dorothy Walker, Sarah Mills, Mack, John D., Majorie Freeman, Agnes Van Sant and J.R. (James).
