

Jesse Hooks was born October 27th 1946, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to the proud parents of Willie Mae Barnett and Roosevelt Hooks. Jesse attended Percy L. Julian Elementary School, South Mountain High School and Northern Arizona University. On June 3rd 1944, he married Marjorie Maxwell. Jesse accepted God as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He visited and fellowshipped with Southern Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, under Reverend James H. Abram and Pastor Reginald Steele. Jesse and Marjorie Hooks met in Arizona in 1991. He had several hobbies. He enjoyed traveling, playing dominos, working on automobiles and especially enjoyed family time, giving barbeques. He had a love for all kinds of music as well. Being diagnosed with several long-time illnesses, Jesse Hooks departed his life on February 26th 2012 and was Welcomed Home to Jesus. (Preceding him in death was his brother, Ben Barnett). Leaving to cherish his memory. His companion and wife of 21 years, Marjorie Maxwell; brother, Carl Edward Barnett; 9 Step children; 2 Uncles, Huey Lowery and John Lowery; 2 Aunts, Littie Lowery and Cornelia Harris, all of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 6th 2012, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, with a funeral service to be held on Wednesday, March 7th 2012 at 11:00 am, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, 2300 West Van Buren Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85009.
Repast will be held at the home of Kim Maxwell.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 179 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85009.
