John "Johnny" Ottavio Monty II

51, of Tempe, AZ, formerly of Beckley, WV passed away on Sunday October 14th, 2012. John was born in South Charleston, WV on February 16,, 1961 to John Ottavio I and Donna Monty, of Beckley, WV. John attended St. Francis of Assisi School in St. Albans, WV. He moved to Beckley, WV in 1970 and attended St. Francis DeSales School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley. John married Elizabeth Joan Bryant in 1983. His cherished daughter, Gillian Rose Monty was born in 1998 in Tempe, AZ. Johnny also cherished his family and his dogs, Henry, Bailey and Lily, and had many good friends throughout his life. Johnny founded and operated a successful landscaping company for more than 25 years. John found great joy in his work and employees and fishing and hiking the mountains of the western U.S. His kind heart, warm smile and talent will live on in everyone he left behind. John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joe and Clara Monty and his Uncle and Aunt Louis and Elena Monty, immigrants from Auronzo, Italy in the 1920’s. In addition, he was preceded in death by his Uncle Enio (Delores) Monty, of St. Albans, WV; Uncle Jay (Phyllis) Barker of Phoenix, AZ, and his maternal grandparents Julius “Pete” and Iva Barker, of Phoenix, AZ. Johnny leaves behind a loving family including his wife Elizabeth Monty and daughter Gillian Monty, of Tempe, AZ; parents John and Donna Monty of Beckley, WV; brother Tim (Kathy) Monty of Wellington, CO; brother Greg (Francois) Monty of Junction City, KS; sister Tiziana (Scott)Monty-Frey of New Bremen, Ohio; cousin Sylvia Monty of St. Albans, WV; cousin Maria Ray of Nitro, WV; and aunt Patty Apple and family of Mesa, AZ; nephew Pete Monty and wife Muriel of San Francisco, CA; nephew Joseph Monty and wife Laura of Denver, CO; nephew Gregory Monty Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; niece Natalie Monty of Lawrence, KS; nephew Ian Frey of New Bremen, OH. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ 85282.
