John Peter Schembri

On August 11, 2023, John Peter Schembri, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep as a result of complications from late stage Parkinson’s disease. Throughout his illness, John demonstrated an unwavering strength of character. John was born and grew up in Malta. At 12 years old, he, along with his mother and siblings ventured across the ocean to the United States and settled in Northern California along with his father. In 1971, while on vacation in Malta, he met and fell in love with his late wife, Mary. They married on August 9, 1973 in Malta. Shortly after, John and Mary moved to Arizona, where they started a family. John was a faithful husband and dedicated father, who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. His tenacity, sense of humor and counsel will be missed. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher and Mark, as well as Christopher’s wife, Natalie, and his two grandchildren, Noah and Harlow.

A Visitation will be on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11 AM located at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church located 2312 E Campbell Ave. Entombment to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery at 12:30 PM
