Joe grew up in Yuma where he attended and graduated from Yuma High School in 1993. Joe played Varsity Basketball and was in the Yuma High Varsity Marching Band as a member of the color guard for 4 years.
Joe’s passion was the Hospitality Industry. His first full time job was at the Hunter Steak House where he started off as a busboy and quickly worked his way up to Assistant Manager and then to Chef. After relocating to Tucson with the Hunter, he couldn’t turn down an offer to return to Yuma and to the Hunter where it all started. New opportunities took Joe to Phoenix where he worked as a Food Service Manager for 9 years. He then started a new chapter of his life at the Stratford as the Director of Culinary Services where he worked for the last 12 years.
Joe’s world was Star Wars; from watching Empire Strikes Back in theaters at the young age of 6 to standing in line for 24 hours to see the midnight premiere of Phantom Menace to every Star Wars movie and series since. He never got tired of watching the movies and loved sharing them with anyone he met. He could recite every movie, word for word. He was lovingly known as “Jedi Master Sabori”.
Joe was the kindest person you could ever meet. He always went out of his way to help someone out, regardless of their circumstances. He had a subtle way of leading people in the right direction, acting as a mentor to many. Joe was happiest when he was spending time with family and close friends. It didn’t matter if they were grilling or just hanging out, he enjoyed spending time with those he loved. He loved to make people laugh and was always the life of the party. He will be remembered for all the joy he spread.
Joe leaves behind his father Antonio; brothers Henry (Lupe) & Christopher (Jennifer); his nieces and nephews Christian (Carolina), Freddy (Carissa), Patricia, Esaile, Carlos, Stevie, Benjamin, Jackson, Elizabeth, Isabella, Julianna & Sergio. his honorary brother Twinkie; aunts Rita, Cruz, Berta, Sofia, & Catilina; uncles Simon, Francisco & Beto. Also, many other close family and friends – too many to mention.
Joe was greeted in Heaven by his mother Yolanda & sister Cynthia.
