Joseph Martin Salomon

Joseph Martin Salomon, loving brother, husband, father and grandfather, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015. He was born in Retinne, Belgium to Victoria and Martin Salomon on February 18, 1932. In 1956, he left his homeland to follow his sister to the United States. After living several years in Cleveland, Ohio, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1960. Joseph married Dorothy Hicks in 1967 and together they raised their son Martin. Joseph’s legacy has continued with his beloved grandson and namesake, Joseph Salomon. Joseph enjoyed a long and successful career as an electronics specialist at Motorola, receiving numerous awards and recognition for his inventions and ideas. He was passionate about soccer, and brought the sport to the Valley of the Sun as the founder of Sereno Soccer Club. He found great joy in teaching and coaching youth soccer, and led Sereno to become the most thorough soccer development program and number one club in Arizona. Joseph is survived by his son Martin Salomon and his grandson Joseph Salomon. He is preceded in death by his sister Johanna Gaicki and his wife Dorothy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior, at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road in Phoenix. Burial to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Phoenix.
