

Josephine Rose Stringham went to be with the Lord and her Family on August 30, 2012. She was born in Calumet City, IL on April 16, 1916 to Charles and Florence Maroc. Josephine lived in Hammond, IN until she married Harry Stringham in 1937 and then they moved to Highland, IN. As a young woman she became a hair dresser, which she continued in her Highland home. She enjoyed sewing so much that she would tell everyone that she was sewn around the world several times. She also enjoyed fishing, bowling, singing in her church choir and family gatherings. Josephine is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, her parents, 3 brothers and 6 sisters. She is survived by sons Charles (Ardelle) Stringham and Clifford (Paula) Stringham; grandsons, John and Jeffrey (Jessica) Stringham; granddaughters Kelly Stringham, Kimberly (Chad) Peterson, Janel (Howard) Collins and Jill (Darryl) Johnson. Her nine great grandchildren were her delight and they ranged from 4 to 26. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews across the country. Viewing will begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 W Beardsley Rd. Phoenix, AZ with a Service of Remembrance beginning at 7:00pm. Josephine will then be laid to rest with her husband in Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to her church, Christ Community United Methodist Church in Avondale or to Hospice of the Valley.
