Joyce Elizabeth Bailey of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on January 26th, 2023 at the age of eighty-eight. She was born on March 14th, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan. Living in Michigan, Washington, Oregon and finally Phoenix, Arizona where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1952. After marrying Joe A. Bailey, the Air Force allowed them to live in many places including Hickam AFB in Hawaii, Vandenberg and Travis AFB’s in California. Life after the Air Force found Joe and Joyce in San Bernardino, California before moving back to Phoenix in 1974, where they raised their young family, in Moon Valley.
Joyce worked as a waitress in high school, a dental hygienist, Air Force Secretary and was an integral part of helping build the family business, Triple J Investments. She especially loved the office “Birthday of the Month” luncheons. She lovingly drove Mason’s 5 am swim practice carpools, transported Melinda and friends to Metro Center Mall on demand, and always warmly welcomed friends and neighbors to sit and visit at the booth in her kitchen.
Joyce loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved dining out and shopping trips, road trips and football games, reading, and anything that involved being with her family. She loved her frequent phone calls with her sister Dodie, her brother Tommy and her best friend Cathy McMahon. She was a longtime member of Christ’s Church of the Valley, and also loved listening to sermons by Joel Osteen. She also had many great times traveling with her husband, and visiting her family and friends in Oregon.
She is preceded in death by her biological mother Mildred Seabert Predmore, who passed away when Joyce was just 3 weeks old, her father Ralph H. Predmore, and her mother Miriam Moore. Also, preceding her in death are her sister Nancy Predmore, her brothers Richard and Donald Predmore, her niece Vicky Scholz, and her brother-in-law Jerry Lawson. The love of her life, Joe A. Bailey, was waiting for her in heaven, since his passing, in 2002.
Joyce is survived by her son Mason T. Bailey, daughter Melinda M. Bailey, daughter-in-law Christine Bailey, son-in-law Gino Prisco and eight Grandchildren- Devan Bowden, Summer Bowden, Luke Bailey, Daisy Prisco, Ivy Prisco, Catherine Bailey, Mitchell Bailey and Lily Prisco. She is also survived by her siblings Thomas Predmore of Alabama, Daniel Predmore of Sandy, Oregon and Doris Lawson of Sandy, Oregon. She had a great love for her many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Joyce’s last years were spent living in Scottsdale, Arizona and then Carlsbad, California where she could be near her children and grandchildren. Our dear mother was full of class and grace until the very last days of her life-she smiled, laughed, beamed of love and made sure her hair was perfect.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ellis and Home Based Medicine for the care and compassion he showed our mother since January of 2020, as well as his staff at West Coast Hospice for their guidance and support during her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service at Eternal Hills Memorial Park on Friday February 17th, 2023 at 5 PM. Following the service, a reception will take place at her home, in Carlsbad.
