Joyce Elaine Hurst

Joyce was born in Akron, OH and moved to Phoenix, AZ at the age of 14. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1947 then Gregg Business College. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Air Force in several locations including the Pentagon and Tripoli, Libya. Joyce married Thomas Hurst in 1960 and settled back in Phoenix where she held Executive Secretary positions for 25 years with Goodyear Aerospace/ Lockheed Martin.

Also in 1960, Joyce became an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Phoenix. She taught Sunday School for 10 years, served on the Church Council, sang in the church choir and filled in as church Secretary when the need arose.

Joyce is survived by her brother Harry Kepler and his wife Mary Ellen; daughters Kathleen Patrick and her wife Irene, Kolleen Kepler and her husband Theodore and Tammi Erdman and her husband Robert, Jr.; and grandchildren Daniel Kepler, Shelby Erdman, and Robert Erdman III.

All will remember Joyce for her lovely smile - a smile that was always so easy to bring about.

A memorial service will be held 2pm March 30 at Grace Lutheran Church, 3rd St and East Moreland Ave in Phoenix, followed by a reception at the church.
