Judith (Judie) Louise Engel, 66 of Phoenix passed away on August 23, 2013. Judie was born to Harry and Esther (Malmquist) Berntsen on July 13, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. Growing up, Judie enjoyed participating in Drama Club and Choir. Judie was a long-time Valley resident and worked for 25 years as a Manager and Customer Service Specialist for the State of Arizona Motor Vehicle Division. Family was the center of Judie's life; she had a tremendous love for her children and grandchildren. Judie also collected dolphins and Elmo figurines and enjoyed getting her nails done. Judie is preceded in death by her husband James and survived by her three children, Jimmy (Tracey), Tracey, Tiffany, and Mike (Kristina), her brother, Jim Berntsen also grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Lance, Roman, Paris, Dominic and Liam. Judie was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary 2350 E Greenway Rd., Phoenix.
