Laura Alice Sorenson Ashenden

Laura was born to James H and Alice and she grew up in Los Angeles, California. Laura graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1946. She married her first husband (Rogan) and had two children Elizabeth and Jon. She later married Kal K Sorenson and had Stanley. She was a good, caring mother to all three of her children. After the children were grown, Laura was mom to several miniature schnauzers that she trained and won obedience trophies.

Laura went to college and earned a degree in Adult Recreation at ASU. She was employed by the City of Phoenix at the Washington Adult Center as a recreation coordinator. After retiring, Laura became a world traveler. She later married Arthur Ashenden whom she adored and will be buried beside.

Laura was predeceased by Arthur, Kal, Jon and Elizabeth. She is survived by and will be missed by her brother James Jr. (June), her son Stan (Gina), her grandson Sunny (Veda) Sorenson and his family, her granddaughter Alicia (Mike) Penson,their family and her granddaughter Cheri Johnston and family. Special thanks to her home caregiver angels who helped Laura so much in her final years.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 beginning at 10 AM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix. 85009 Her funeral will be at 10:30 AM with committal to follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix. A celebration of her life will be
