Leonora, lovingly referred to as “Pastora” and “L”, was born to Teodoto and Raymunda Pilapil on April 26, 1934. She had a total of six siblings: Erline, Elizabeth, Carmen, Michael, Stanley, and Lawrence. At the age of 12, she and her family moved from Oahu, Hawaii to the Philippines. Seven years after moving to the Philippines, she married Rev. Porferio Gulfan on May 24, 1953. After many years of pioneering churches in the Philippines, Leonora along with her husband and children - Jeremy, Grace, and Roland - settled in Honaunau, Hawaii. As their family grew with the addition of two more children, Marsha and Ruth, she continued working with her husband in ministry by planting a church and working in the hotel industry. After the death of her beloved Porferio (1981), Leonora and children moved to Salinas, California. While there she continued to work with the Filipino-American Assemblies of God churches and earned her Licensed Vocational Nursing degree from Hartnell Community College. In the summer of 1987, she married Rev. Modesto Dalapu and in 1995 they settled in Phoenix, Arizona. She continued working as a nurse and ministering in the Filipino-American congregations.
