It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Libby Diane Cooper, age 76, of Cave Creek, Arizona, on February 4, 2026. After a long and courageous battle with illness, Libby passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Libby was born on July 30, 1949, to Sarah and Mario Lemoncello in Chicago, Illinois, and was raised in San Antonio, Texas. It was there she met the love of her life, Doug Cooper, while he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. They married in 1967 following his return from Vietnam and later welcomed two daughters - Kelly, followed a few years later by Debbie - who became the center of Libby’s world.
Libby took great pride in her work and spent her career helping others in many roles, including as an assembly forewoman and in customer service at Thunderbird Furniture, customer service at Hyundai Merchant Marine, and later in the bakery at Fry’s grocery store. No matter where she worked, Libby was known for her warm smile, kind words, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her husband Doug, her sister Maria, her brother Chuck, and her grandson Dylan. Libby is survived by her daughters, Kelly Taylor (Chad) and Debbie Allen (Jonathan Dellmar); her grandchildren, Eric Reill and Abby Allen; and her brother, Stephen Lemoncello. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Libby was courageous, inspirational, kind, loving, funny, and full of joy and showed us what determination and persistence can achieve. She loved meeting new people and had a remarkable ability to effortlessly turn strangers into friends. Despite her health challenges, she lived life fully, enjoying travel and treasured time with her family. Her greatest pride and joy were always her children and grandchildren.
A celebration of Libby’s life is being planned, with details to be shared soon.
