

Lovern (Gary) D. Garrett, age 80 of Buckeye, AZ passed away Friday, January 22, 2021. He was born October 06, 1940 in Detroit, the son of late Joseph and Dorothy (Bressler) Garrett. Lovern joined the United States Marine Corps on January 01, 1963 and served as a Sargent until December 31, 1971. He earned several medals including Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the RVN Cross 5F Gallantry Medal. Lovern worked for Orchid Paper Products as a senior executive in Southern California and transferred to Cartersville, GA in 1988 where he and his wife Cindy Garrett retired. June, 2019 Lovern and Cindy moved to Buckeye, AZ to be closer to family. Lovern was known as a very spiritual man that would give the shirt of his back to anyone in need.
Lovern is survived by Wife, Cindy Garrett of Buckeye, AZ, Son, Anthony Monteverde of Garden Grove, CA, Son, Gary Garrett of Buckeye AZ and Daughter, Audrey Monteverde-Thompson of Garden Grove, CA. Three Grandchildren Ricky Fernandez of Long Beach, CA and Noah Fernandez of Buena Park, CA and Tyler Thompson of Garden Grove, CA. Three great grandchildren Gavin, Amelia and Olivia Fernandez.
Besides his parents, Lovern was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy, Jack, Joe and Darrell and Daughter Michelle Spencer.
