Lucy Leyvas Noriega Benabidez

Lucy Benabidez, Mother, Nana, Sister, Wife and Daughter, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 3, 2013. She had been surrounded by the love and devotion of her family, as she made her way to her new life. Her life here on earth was long and filled with a very large, loving and devoted family, with lifelong, and brand new, friends. Lucy’s family was the most important part of her life, with the exception of her faith in our Lord. She was always joking and laughing and creating wonderful, lifelong experiences for everyone. She loved them all unconditionally. Although she is out of sight, she will always be with us in our hearts and in our minds through our beautiful memories. Lucy is preceded in death by her mother, Antonia Loredo, stepfather, Jesus Loredo, her first husband and father of her children, Mike Noriega, her second husband, Joe C. Benabidez, and her companion & friend, Pablo Madrid. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Sara Leyvas, Connie Elias and Margaret Casas, as well as her granddaughter, Theresa Martinez. Lucy is survived by her children, Nellie Manley (Bill), Adeline Martinez (John), Mike Noriega (Ellen) and Toni Thompson (Tom). Lucy had 10 grandchildren – Billy, Lori, David, John, Tommy, Danny, Michael, Joey, Michelle and Veronica, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, John Loredo, Carmen Saez, Frances Tellez, Nellie Lugo, Joe Loredo and Betty Duran. Everyone who knew Lucy knew of her love of life and great sense of humor and devotion to our Lord. She probably has all the angels laughing with her in heaven. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, from 10am-11am. Rosary and service will be from 11am-12pm. A short graveside service will follow at 12pm. All services will be performed at Greenwood Memory Lawn/Cemetery, 719 N. 27 Ave., Phoenix, AZ.
