Luis Sotelo

Luis Sotelo, of Laveen, Arizona passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Our beloved Thatha Luis Sotelo changed his address to heaven at the age of 83. He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and at an early age he ventured to the United States. Luis was a good and hardworking man who loved and cared deeply about his family. He was most proud of the fact that our family was only getting bigger.

Luis had a green Chevy S10 that drove us everywhere, whether it was to Food City for Hot Cheetos and soda or to Slide Rock with everyone piled in the back. Every morning he would drink his coffee, eat his pan dulce, and warm up his truck 15 minuets before we leave so we weren’t cold during the winter. Thatha always put everyone before himself and he has been an amazing role model / father figure in our lives. Luis had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Any chance he got he would sing “El Rancho Grande”. When Thatha would sing he would soon start dancing. You could see and hear the love he had for his culture in his voice.

His family and friends will greatly miss him - but he will forever remain in our hearts and fondest memories. Fly high Thatha, sing and dance all day long up there.
