Marc Shockley went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, February 7, 2025. He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Kimberly Shockley; his beloved children, David (Patti) Shockley, Thomas Shockley, Elizabeth (Brad) Ford, and Travis (Jana) Miller; his cherished grandchildren, Tiffany Cabral, Jessica Gabris, Megan Shockley, Aubrey Frear, Carson Frear, Tyler Davis, Britney Sanders, and Zebulon Miller; along with 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jane (Skip) Hoyle, and his nieces, Emily and Katy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Rheba Shockley.
Born on May 12, 1946, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Marc moved with his family to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1955. He graduated from Sunnyslope High School and later earned his degree from Arizona State University. A proud patriot, Marc served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1989, earning numerous commendations, including the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Reserve Service Medal, and Rifle & Pistol Expert designation.
Following his military service, Marc built a successful career in the insurance industry before joining the Central Arizona Project (CAP) as their Risk Manager. One of his proudest professional achievements was developing a captive insurance program for CAP before his retirement.
Marc’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He served the Lord in many congregations across the Valley, most recently at Canyon Church of Christ. He was a dedicated Deacon, Elder, and Bible class teacher, and he often stepped in as a preacher when needed. His love for God was evident in the way he lived and served.
Beyond his faith and family, Marc had a passion for restoring old John Deere tractors, a hobby that perfectly matched his fondness for the color John Deere green. He enjoyed attending tractor pulls and shows, always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm. He was also an avid reader and a dedicated researcher of family genealogy.
Above all, Marc loved God, his wife, his children and grandchildren, and his country. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His stories and laughter will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A celebration of life for Marc will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Canyon Church of Christ, 34975 N Valley Parkway, Ste 136, Phoenix, Arizona 85086.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marc's memory may be made to Hospice of the Valley, https://www.hov.org/donate/.
