Margarette Gordon

Margarette was brought into this world on April 3rd, 1938, to Johnnie and Dora Simmons in Sidon, MS. After graduating she moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she met and married Charles Mckinney and to this union was born four children. In 2000 she was remarried to Sylvester Gordon, a devoted and loving husband, and they were inseparable ever since. She enjoyed fishing and gardening as a form of relaxation.

Mom was passionate about sharing the love of the Lord with others and was an integral part of Locust Grove MB Church (MS) where she served on the Mother’s Board. Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own.

Now that Margarette has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Margarette’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

Margarette joins her parents, Johnnie and Dora, and her sister, Ann Simmons, and son, Randy, in Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Sylvester Gordon, her sisters, Bernice Stone, Willie B Webster, and Josie (James) Meeks, her children, Katherine (Courtney) Mckinney, Maurice Mckinney, and Nicole (Elbert) Mungin, Sandrus (Paul) Naugle, Alverto Branch, Sylvia Gordon, Anton (Chantele) Gordon, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Mother, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you.

We love you so much. Rest in peace.

A visitation for Margarette will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Maryvale, 6901 West Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 2300 West Van Buren, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
