Marianne Patricia Spina

Born and raised in Mt Pocono, PA. Daughter of Paul and Theresa DeSanto (dec); sister to Angeline Romanowski and Paul DeSanto (dec); beloved wife of Lt. Commander Philip “Skip” Spina (dec).

Marianne graduated from Keystone Jr. College where she was introduced to her roommate’s cousin, Skip, and the rest is history….

Marianne and Skip married in 1961 and settled in Locust Valley, NY, where they raised their three children and spent many happy years engaged in local activities and events; and enjoyed life-long relationships with their neighbors and community friends.

Marianne most loved cooking, singing, gardening, and travel making her an incredible hostess. One of her greatest joys was preparing for “company” and welcoming friends and family to her Sunday Dinners. She especially looked forward to sharing holiday gatherings with her loving family.

She spent her latter years in Arizona where she enjoyed early morning walks, playing cards with her friends, socializing in her community and face-timing with her most-adored grandchildren.

Marianne is survived by her sister, Angeline Romanowski; her children: Gregory Spina and his wife, Jane; Ghia Graziano and her husband, Russel; Lea Latham and her husband, Stephen; and her five grandchildren: Tierney, Kiley, Vincent, Tess and Libby.

The family gathered recently in NY to honor her and share warm reflections and cherished memories.
