It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of one of the kindest and most caring souls to grace our world. Marvin James Miller, 70, was born in Burlington, Iowa to Harlan and Helen (Balzer) Miller and was raised near his grandparent’s farm in North Field. Ever the animal lover, he helped milk cows when he was young and then fed horses, birds, tortoises and feral cats for many years on his morning runs before adopting 5 cats (Oreo, Maggie, Mary, Molly and Morris) which were spoiled and loved along with his grand pets.
Marvin defied death on many occasions by demonstrating a positive attitude and steadfast perseverance during the worst of times. He practiced a life of generosity, forgiveness and compassion that inspired all of those around him. Marvin was a prolific reader, golfer, wood worker, and welder during his free time after retiring as a prestigious master-certified RV technician. A wonderful friend, father, and husband, he will be so greatly missed. He follows the passing of his beloved son, Nathan, his wife, Lupe, and his brother, Gary. He is survived by his daughters, Nicole (Bill) Graybill, Leya (Andrew) De La Garza, his grandchildren, Colton, Will, Caitlin, Chelsee, Mia and Rocko, and his siblings, Dale Miller, Joyce Garnsey, Diane Givens, and Sharon Frank.
We will remember him when watching sunrises and sunsets, when viewing the gentle tides on the sea shore, when enjoying the stirrings of little critters in nature and during times when his grace would help us to provide compassion to others. We will love him forever. Celebration dinners in Phoenix and in Iowa will be held.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AdvantageMaryvale.com for the Miller family.
