Mary Frances Stewart Robbins, the youngest of seven children, was born on December 15, 1931 in Tucson, Arizona to Daisy Mayberry Stewart and Durah Stewart. She passed peacefully in the presence of family and friends on December 19, 2018, just after her 87th birthday, from complications after a fall.
Mary grew up in the desert of the Old Pueblo, and spent nearly all her life in the Tucson and Phoenix area. While raising her family, she enjoyed holidays with her extended family, including picnics at Sabino Canyon and Randolph Park. She enjoyed family vacations to the beach in California and in Mexico. Mary appreciated beauty, and had a good eye for design and fashion. She educated herself about healthy living, stayed fit, and enjoyed her time as a yoga instructor. She especially loved her home, which for the last four years was a cozy apartment at the Beatitudes Campus in Phoenix. She cherished the privacy and comfort of her own apartment, where she was content. Mary also took great comfort in her faith, which gave her calm and peace at the end of her life.
Mary is survived by her sister, Pauline Stewart Murray (Don); her children, Jennifer Lee Robbins, Phylis Anne Robbins and Susan Marie Robbins (Tammy Perkins); and her nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren. Her parents and five brothers predeceased her. One daughter, Melanie Lynn Robbins, and her children’s father, Philip Alan Robbins, also predeceased her. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held in the Life Center at Beatitudes Campus, 1610 West Glendale Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85021, on January 8th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
