Mayerlin "Maggie" Staker

Mayerlin Staker, 54, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Mayerlin was born May 12, 1968 in Caracas, Venezuela. Mayerlin went by the name Maggie as her name was difficult to pronounce in both English and Spanish despite its spelling.

After graduating High School, Maggie attended modeling school at a top-rated academy, after which she had her first career as a model. She also attended both Medical and Law School in Venezuela. From 1991 to 1992, she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Soon after returning, she married her Husband Travis Staker on July 1, 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was not long after that Maggie had her 3 children, which were the joy of her life.

She worked in various capacities in the mortgage industry for over 20 years. Maggie was passionate about her beliefs, being an active member of her church and happily serving others in various capacities. Some of her favorite church appointed callings were as a Young Women’s Leader, Primary teacher, and Nursery teacher.

Maggie enjoyed bringing beauty into every space she inhabited and was a gifted home decorator. She was extremely proud of the pieces she adorned her home with, many of which she had crafted herself by hand.

She loved to sing, participating in many choirs throughout her life beginning in her youth. She was also a self-taught expert on the traditional Venezuelan Cuatro. The technical and musical knowledge and expertise required to be able to play the instrument in this way is astounding, making her self taught status a true testament to the extraordinary skill and talent that Maggie carried within her. She was asked on many occasions to accompany choirs with this instrument with no sheet music.

Maggie is survived by husband Travis Staker, children Stephanie Staker, Garrett Staker, Brianna Staker, Destinee Sigala. Parents Jose Argenis Rodriguez, Raquelina de Rodriguez Rivas. Siblings Ruth Mairellis Tann, Robert Rodriguez, Romer Rodriguez and Raiza Contreras.

A celebration of her life will be held on September 30, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 3527 W. Happy Valley Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85310.

Mayerlin Staker, de 54 años, de Phoenix, Arizona, falleció el jueves 15 de septiembre de 2022. Mayerlin nació el 12 de mayo de 1968 en Caracas, Venezuela. Mayerlin se hizo llamar Maggie ya que su nombre era difícil de pronunciar tanto en inglés como en español a pesar de su ortografía.

Después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria, Maggie asistió a la escuela de modelos en una academia de primer nivel, después de lo cual tuvo su primera carrera como modelo. También asistió a la Facultad de Medicina y Derecho en Venezuela. De 1991 a 1992, sirvió en una misión para la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días en Maracaibo, Venezuela. Poco después de regresar, se casó con su esposo Travis Staker el 1 de julio de 1993 en Salt Lake City, Utah. Poco tiempo después, Maggie tuvo a sus 3 hijos, que fueron la alegría de su vida.

Trabajó en varias capacidades en la industria hipotecaria durante más de 20 años. Maggie era una apasionada de sus creencias, siendo un miembro activo de su iglesia y sirviendo felizmente a otros en diversas capacidades. Algunos de sus llamamientos favoritos designados por la iglesia fueron como líder de mujeres jóvenes, maestra de primaria y maestra de guardería.

Maggie disfrutó traer belleza a cada espacio que habitaba y era una decoradora de hogar talentosa. Estaba extremadamente orgullosa de las piezas con las que adornaba su hogar, muchas de las cuales las había elaborado ella misma a mano.

Le encantaba cantar, participando en muchos coros a lo largo de su vida desde su juventud. También fue una experta autodidacta en el cuatro tradicional venezolano. El conocimiento técnico y musical y la experiencia necesarios para poder tocar el instrumento de esta manera son asombrosos, lo que hace que su condición de autodidacta sea un verdadero testimonio de la extraordinaria habilidad y talento que Maggie llevaba dentro de ella. En muchas ocasiones le pidieron que acompañara coros con este instrumento sin partitura.

A Maggie le sobreviven su esposo Travis Staker, sus hijos Stephanie Staker, Garrett Staker, Brianna Staker, Destinee Sigala. Padres Jose Argenis Rodriguez, Raquelina de Rodriguez Rivas. Hermanos Ruth Mairellis Tann, Robert Rodríguez, Romer Rodríguez y Raiza Contreras.

Se llevará a cabo una celebración de su vida el 30 de septiembre de 2022 a las 10 a. m. en el edificio de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días ubicado en 3527 W Happy Valley Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85310
