Maylon Wo (Lani), 91, of Phoenix, passed away on June 22, 2017, on the day of her 70th wedding anniversary. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, June 30, 2017, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery (Serenity Chapel), with visitation at 9:00am. Interment will follow at the cemetery. Lani was born in Los Angeles, California on April 12, 1926. She married Arnold Wo on June 22, 1947, soon after his service with the Air Force in World War II. Nineteen years later, their son, Brian, was born on September 21st. Lani went back to school to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in 1975 so that she could enter the teaching profession and impact more children. She taught 1st and 3rd grades in the Dysart Unified School district for sixteen years. Lani spent a great amount of her time giving back to the Chinese-American community and was involved in the leadership of community organizations, such as, the Desert Jade Women’s Club, and the Chinese United Association of Greater Phoenix. Lani is survived by her loving husband Arnold; their son Brian, his wife Angela, and their two children, Ethan and Cassidy of Santa Clara, California. However, as a testament to Arnold and Lani’s overflowing gift of hospitality, countless others consider her to be their second mother. She also leaves behind five sisters, May Yook, May Kang, May Fong, May Gitt, and May Yoen, and her sister-in-law, Helen Ong. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Bay Area Anti-Trafficking Coalition (baatc.org) for their work to fight human trafficking: 2346 Walsh Ave., Santa Clara, CA 95051.
