Michael Allen Cox was a beloved husband to Fe Serrano Cox and father to Jennifer Garcia, Christopher Cox, Paul Cox and Michelle Cox. He passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024. Mike was a very joyful, godly, kindhearted, lovable family man, trusted brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of history, books, travel adventures, aliens, dinosaurs and the good “ole” days with his grandchildren. He was the best papa to Alyssa and Gabriel Garcia, Dominique, Isaiah and Vivian Cox, Jacob, Makayla and Kasey Cox. He always made sure to take them on monthly movie & McDonald’s dates. He would also lovingly impart and tease about the struggles of marriage and how to lead a successful marriage with son-in-law, Jesse Garcia and daughter-in-law, Jamie Cox. Mike was the second child born to Jimmy Dan Cox and Margaret Ella Parry, on April 11, 1951 in Norman Oklahoma. He is survived by his older brother, Dan Cox, followed by his sisters, Kathy Cox, Karen Cox and Marina Kue. They loved being outdoors, especially exploring the nearby creeks looking for fossils. To give you a small glimpse of Mike as an individual, he served in the US Navy and then became a nuclear engineer at Palo Verde where he retired. His interest and hobbies were unique, playing war games in his garage, being a member at outpost gaming reenacting Civil War battles and was casted in the movie “Glory”, find him in the opening battle scene, he made and painted miniatures, taking long walks & hiking, was an amateur photographer, and a collector of coins, comics, newspapers, and so much more. We will always love you and miss you dearly. “Formaggio”
Until we meet again. “Ciao”
A celebration of life for Michael will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
