Michael Scott Methvin, of Laveen, Arizona, passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 64. He was born on November 7, 1960, in Phoenix, Arizona, and spent his life in the Valley, where he built lasting relationships and touched many lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved Mother Jeanne Rondeau (passed March 30, 2021), and Charles H. Methvin (passed November 21, 2001). The love of Michael’s life, Dawn Rene Makai, also preceded him in death on January 22, 2025. Both Dawn and Michael were born in 1960, and both passed in 2025 — they had a special bond that time itself could not break.
Michael will be remembered for his intense kindness. A kind example is that before our mother passed, Michael promised her that he would take care of her 10+ year old dog, Reagan. Reagan is blind and deaf, but Michael took that dog everywhere with him, fed him, cooked food, bathed him weekly, and groomed him with a Mohawk and a Fu-Man-Chu beard, and he is still alive. Old as can be – but still alive.
He had a deep love for music and could often be found playing one of the guitars from his extensive collection, sharing songs and stories with those around him. He had a gift for teaching — whether it was about music, a new skill, religion, shooting guns, or life itself — and he found joy in helping others learn and grow. His spirit lingers in music, in memory, in his love of building things, and in the countless life lessons he left behind.
Michael is survived by:
His sister Deborah and her husband Dave, and their two sons, Konner and his wife Shannon, and Jake.
His brother, Steven, and his partner, Carlos.
Michael’s sister Deanna, her husband Joseph, and their three children — son Adison and his daughter Ace, daughter Taylor and her husband Zack and their two children Emery and Elias, and their son Logan.
Michael’s sister Kristine and Michael, and her two daughters - Jerris, whom Michael was extremely close to, and her husband Quillan and their two daughters, Charlie and Avery. Also, Kristine’s daughter, Summer (Summertime).
Michael also has a half-sister, Elizabeth Methvin, and her three daughters, Delaney, Isabelle, & Remi Jo, and son, Rylen. And a half-brother, Charles Methvin, who is married to Jenn, and their three sons, Sean, Grady, and Hudson.
His presence brought joy and laughter to those who knew him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2026 to celebrate Michael’s life and the love he shared with all who knew him.
