Millie Johnson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Millie Johnson on January 23, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is predeceased by her husband Cecil O. Johnson. She is survived by her daughters Cecy Johnson-Moore (John Moore) of Sun City West and Krys Johnson (Hal Wilmot) of Apache Junction, AZ. Millie was born in Roff, Oklahoma on May 24, 1920 to Oscar and Annie Poe. She moved to Phoenix in 1936. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degrees from Arizona State University. She was an English and Special Education Teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix until her retirement in 1996. Millie loved her family, her dog Misha, travel and reading. She was an independent, spirited woman ahead of her time.

Millie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ.
