Nicey Ann Todd

Nicey Ann Todd was born in the town of Beggs, in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma at 2:30pm on November 9, 1940. She was the eighth child of Tancy and Sarah Evans. She attended Wheatley High School in Beggs, Oklahoma, graduating in 1959.

Nicey met her husband, Willie James Todd, during high school, and they were married on April 12, 1959. Willie served in the United States Air Force, so they traveled throughout his career to Portugal, Germany, Washington D.C., California, and the State of Washington. Their union produced three sons, Stephon, Michael, and Anthony. The family moved to Arizona in 1973.

Nicey was an active member in the church, serving as a mentor and choir member. She loved singing the gospel of the Lord. She was a loyal wife, mother, sister, and friend. She leaves to mourn her, sons: Stephon, Michael, and Anthony; her siblings: Sereenas, Ruth, Betty, and Norma. She is preceded in death by brothers Alvin, Calvin and Joseph.

Our Mother

On Tuesday, July 29, 2014, Mother passed away after a short battle with cancer. She was cared for by family in her home, which brought her the most comfort. She was 73 years of age. She walked with elegance and grace. Those who knew her thought she was “one of a kind”, and she had an abundance of love and smiles for everyone.

We will miss you. In tears we saw you sinking and watched you fade away. Our hearts were surely broken, we wanted you to stay. But when we see you sleeping, so peaceful and free of pain, how could we wish you back with us to suffer that again. Good night, Mother.
